The compliance of paper limbs
led her here.
Plunged into a sea in the sky;
painted in ink blots of possibility
but stained with the tears
of a paper crane.

A sliver of lilac moon
burned scars into hazy eyes.

Counting coloured lines
on a backdrop of failed love affairs;
Watching bleeding dawns
and the birth of stars
through a pane of tissue paper
glass.

Seeking nothing but the thrill
of cheating fate,
ignoring plans laid out by gods
who fly on silk wings;
Resisting the simplicity
of pauses
and full stops.

Her world is a road map
marked in crimson stars
and drawn in dotted lines
that lead to something—
something undecided.

But she'll walk there
on paper limbs.
First poem in a long time.
Feel free to interpret as you will, but it was written with something concrete in mind.

Vaguely inspired by this song: [link]

This is lovely. Can I ask what your original meaning was, in the writing?

I believe my thought process was that the girl in the poem had OCD; the paper limbs imply that she is easily coerced into doing things but at the same time she marches to the beat of her own drum. She counts coloured lines on her backdrop of failed love affairs because the obsessions will always be there, and they will always take precedent.

No problem at all, it's always nice to get those thought processes out there.
Thank you for the favourite! :)
